Saving Grace…or how I get thru a typical Monday.

I had fully planned to write an eloquent post about the essential value of GRACE in one’s daily life as a mom.
How GRACE in all it’s rebellious glory spits in the face of humankind’s natural tendencies toward each other. For examples of these tendencies just take a look at your newspaper’s front page headlines or come to my kid’s carpool line at 3:15.

Grace as defined by Mr. Webster is:
a : unmerited divine assistance given humans for their regeneration or sanctification
b : a virtue coming from God
c : a state of sanctification enjoyed through divine grace

“Unmerited assistance” is the key phrase here . Just giving a little boost to someone when ya really don’t have to, in order to make something a wee bit easier or happier for them.

Ya see this concept of grace happened to be part of a sermon I heard in church this past Sunday, as I sat producing a promo for the reality show “Survivor: The Balcony Pew… can the young mother entertain her antsy 7 year old in a quiet holy place with no snacks for an hour and a half??”
(The answer is yes thank you very much.)

Anyway, I came away realizing that grace is quite a beautiful thing. Mainly because by definition it comes when we least expect or deserve it. So, I was all fired up, I had meaningful notes and examples for my post today and I knew it was going to be astute and life-changing, and eveyone would click away aiming to be more gracious mothers, friends and wives.

And then I walked into my bedroom and saw this:

laundry

And the the first thing out of my mouth was “oh Lord I need me some grace for that”.

I don’t know about you my dears, but Monday is catch-up day here in the Sinclair house.
The day I pick up and reassemble the pieces of the “living-in-the-Now” puzzle I embraced all weekend.
( Eckhart Tolle really needs to write a book about who does your laundry, buys peanut butter for your kid’s lunches, and cleans up the dog poop in the yard while you’re busy channeling your inner authenticity and just letting yourself BE.)

Anyway, here’s what I believe was the answer to my weak little plea for laundry folding help.

Don’t get me wrong people I’m not sayin’ God granted me the Black Eyed Peas as an answer to my prayer necessarily.
But then again, I bet the Man can bust a move when he needs to. Just sayin’. Either way I’m taking it.

And in my quest to be more gracious to others, I’ve decided to share this bit of grace with you… if you happen to be in my same boat.

So here it is. Here is your saving grace for all the dirty jobs you have to do today.
The mash-up for your mash-up.
Listen to this, dance around your house, and kick that messy house’s, ah, booty.

It might not be the most astute post on grace, but I believe a good dance mix is truly an act of divine intervention.
Now I have a date with that mess on my bed.
