Rockin’ The D. Dukes, over 35.

Let us all salute the woman for whom these iconic short shorts were named. When we were 25, this look was perfectly acceptable. Now, as we all approach 40 and beyond we just need to know how to tweak the look a bit.

Here’s to rockin’ those dukes right into middle age girls. Now go get cutting and shredding. But better do it now. I don’t know what magic I’ll need to learn to make wearing these at 50 allowable in anyone’s eyes.

Only Madonna can pull that off.

Good for you girl. Us over 45, not so much, although I just bought my first bikini in about 10 years. No, it will not be at the public beach. Only you would have added that side note about wax. You are a hoot!

  2. Sherri says:

Too funny Merrily! You are a hoot!

  3. MJ Tam says:

No heinys for over 35?! Darn! LOL…
Ok, the last time I wore my Dukes were when I was 18!
    You are so freakin’ funny!

  4. Kelly says:

    Loved the last bit-”bikini wax.”

  5. Kelly Tirman says:

Thanks for the bikini wax reminder!

  6. meredith says:

Trust me girls…I’ve been putting mine off all summer.

Wearing the dukes is a harsh reminder. I loathe getting it done, but I don’t want to scar my boys for life .

    Grin and bare it ladies:)

  7. niri says:

Ahh, the pain of fashion, right?

We all think “old” is 10, 15, 20 years older than we are. And, we all want to re-define what is “old”. So, as a relatively old guy, in his 50′s, let me say my wife ROCKS in her tights she always wears (what are those called? Leggings? She says they’re back in fashion!). She’s got a great …. so let’s not get ageist here and think over 35 is even beginning to get “old”! IF you exercise and watch your diet, you CAN be hot well over 35. I used to be in showbiz and I had lunch once with Jane Seymour who was then older than me – I don’t remember her age – and she was GORGEOUS when I used to think any woman that “old” was practically dead! NOT TRUE!

Now, as for my recently gained bowling ball belly – we’ll save that for another time!
