moms’ just wanna have fun
If you’ve been a mom for more than five minutes, you know that every once in a while you just need a night out with your girlfriends. A night to replace the whine with some wine, gush over the latest US weekly or where to get the best pedicure, and connect with people who truly understand the horror of the bikini wax.

Some things NEVER change!! Moms need tme AWAY!! Back in the day, we had jewlery parties, tupperware parties, etc. But to tell you the truth, they were kind of boring. I like the wine tasting parties, southern living parties and lingerie parties my moms at school invite me to. Much more liberal and the conversations among today’s moms are sooooooooooooo much broader in topics. Today’s moms, and grandmoms, rock!!!
Bunko — and/or Bookclub….with 12 women…
once a year you have to host — the other 11 months
you just show up and enjoy….dinner/drinks/converstation & libations.
Does require women who are good hosts and reliable to make it work.
Thanks money penny!
I’ve only played bunko once…but loved the “whoopin’ it up” quality of that game.
I also think it’s a great idea to get 12 girls you like and rotate. Hosting once a year sounds perfect!
hey-that’s our night out! that night was about perfect for me, although add some disco dancing and I am in heaven!
You can NEVER, NEVER, NEVER go wrong with dancing.
Wine club with my girlfriends is a lot of fun (and sometimes educational!). This month we’re taking it outside — we’ll sample bottles of pinot grigio while picnicking and dancing to ABBA, live at Ravinia (an outdoor concert venue). No worries — we’re taking the train there and home.
Can I be your friend Wendy? THAT is perfection.
You are my friend, Meredith! Email me if you want in!
um, Wendy? can I be your friend too? that’s sounds fantabulous!
My friends and I have a standing tennis lesson every Monday morning. Our tennis instructor has to do an occasional double-take every to confirm that he isn’t teaching middle school girls. When you have a combined troop of 21 children – 19 of them under the age of six – mommies tend to get a bit giddy when out of the house!
my friends and i really need a mom’s night or day out each month, not only are we moms but we are also preschool teachers so we are up to our eyeballs in kids!! Once a month we go purse shopping, out to breakfast, more shopping then out for margaritas. now that the weather is nice it is even better, we go to outside tikki bars for our margaritas!!
There’s the book club, the philanthropic organizations, and random girls night of drinking, dancing and eating… My ideal girls night out would be to go to a karaoke bar and sing my lungs out, the more you drink the better I sound
I tend to get in trouble when I do Momznite out!! I like to have the kids scheduled to be gone all night at a sleepover, clean my house, light candles and pretend it’s 14 years ago!! Call up a friend and have her come over to escape her kids for a while, call it momznite in!!
two favorites . . .
first, an impromptu summer night in the backyard with wine. there’s something about the lack of planning that makes it truly feel like a treat.
the other . . . a mom’s weekend at our little cottage in michigan. girls, food, wine and walks on the beach accompanied by an absolute absence of plans and schedules. heaven!
So, after much a lot of thinking about this topic…..right now, in the midst of all of the end-of-the-year hooplah, my perfect mom’s night out is; going to the beach at the end of the day with a blanket, some wine, cheese and crackers and a few good friends.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh
When I get to focus on what friends are saying, you know, REALLY focus, without that constant head twirling, eyes seeking, searching for my three little crazies, I’m having a good time. Dinner out, wine at the beach, sitting in the backyard, listening to music, trying something new, it’s all good!
Ellyn, you pick the night & I’m there!
